To add a class, series or conference to the Search Calendar or Search Trainings in the Training Registry, a training organization must first sponsor an existing training or create a new training. Once the sponsorship or creation is approved, the training organization can schedule the class, series or conference. The Department of Human Services (DHS) will need to approve new trainings that are created. To sponsor a class that has been created by another training organization, the approval request will be forwarded to that training organization. Before you create a new training, always click the "Apply to Sponsor a Training" button to see if the training already exists in the Training Registry. If it exists, you can select it from the list to sponsor it and if it is not in the list, click the Back button to "Create a Training." Refer to the table below to help understand the relationship between the elements.

Before you begin: Open and Sign In to the Iowa Child Care Provider Training Registry.

By default, the View is set to display Approved trainings for your organization.
Ownership of trainings is determined by the training organization first submitting the training.
To change the view:

The result: The Select Training page displays.
To find out more about the trainings listed, click the Training Title. The Back button on the detail page will return to the Select Training page.
Click the Select check box to indicate the name of the training(s) you wish to sponsor.

The result: The Manage Trainings page displays. Your organization has submitted the training for the training owner's approval and the training is displayed on the Manage Trainings page with a Pending status. It will also display on the Manage Account page in the Trainings Pending PDS Approval section. After the training organization personnel approves your organization's use of this training, you may schedule new trainings to the Training Registry. To learn more about creating an approved training in the Training Registry, see the section "To create a new training."

Enter or select the training details. The Owned By field will identify the training organization that will own and maintain the training.
To identify the Content Area(s) specific to this training:
The result: A new window displays the options available for this field.
The steps to complete the Target Audience and Learning Standards fields are very similar in design. |
To save the training details, you must complete the required fields indicated with an asterisk (*).
Click to save the training details.
The result: A message box appears to confirm the training details are saved and notification that handouts can now be added.
You must save the page before you can add a handout.
Click .
The result: The Handout Details page displays.
Enter the name of the handout in Title.
Enter a Description of the handout.
Select the Document Type.
If Document is selected, then click next to the File Name field to locate the file on your computer.
If Web Site is selected, then type the URL of the site into Web Site URL field.
Only one handout can be added at a time. To add another handout, Click for the first one and then click again.
Click to complete the process.
The result: The completed Create Training page displays.
It will take approximately 5 minutes before the uploaded document will be available for viewing on the site.

The result: The training is now listed on the Manage Trainings page with a Pending status.
If the user does not click the button, the training will be saved and can still be accessed and submitted. Click to select All or Not yet submitted from the list of View options.
When your organization wants a new series that has not previously been used in the Training Registry, the following steps will need to be taken:
Create a training for each module or session of the new series. You will not create a training for the series itself.
Click on the Report a Problem link on the left navigation. This will allow you to send an email to Professional Development Staff (PDS). The email communication needs to include the information about the series.
